Each mailbox stays tied to its owner. On Plus and Family plans, no one can read or control another person’s mailbox.

Emails can't take control. Nothing inside an email can give ESOS orders or change your security settings.
Your email still works the same. ESOS works with Gmail and Outlook. It doesn’t replace them.
Why Gmail access is needed. When you connect Gmail, ESOS reads the message data it needs for Review Email, Cleanup, and Watches, and to keep your inbox organized. It also uses Gmail permission to do only the mailbox actions you approve or set up. ESOS never asks for permission to permanently delete Gmail messages.
